I don’t want to sound too smug and self-satisfied about this – it’s still early days and all that – but I’m reassured and pleased by things I’ve noticed this week.
1. People are signing up about whom I know *nothing* other than what they put on the sign-up page – I’ve always worried that it would just be the Lloyd’s Pals Club – but complete strangers are now signing up and also getting in touch directly.
2. We got our first little spike of interest from Mike Butcher writing about us on TechCrunch UK this week. Now, Mike’s been a supporter from the start but coverage is coverage, especially outside of the strictly social media niche. This also made me think more about locating slightly more westerly.
3. Luke Razzell just twittered “We’re building our weekly release cycle [for buzzspotr] around SMC atm :)” This, together with seeing people start to do real business on a Friday morning is exactly what I was after when I wrote about the café as platform.
4. There are *still* more people who have expressed a fervent desire to attend a café than people who’ve actually been along. I really want to extend to some activities in addition to Friday mornings. So I’m spending more time on finding financial supporters and places to do stuff.
It all makes me *very* smiley 🙂
I think the consistent, elegant and meaningful way this club is growing up it’s amazing and it feels great to be part of it!
