The number one most frequently asked question since last Friday’s Social Media Café has been “When’s the next one?” closely followed by “Why didn’t you tell me? When’s the next one?”
It’s going to get easier.
I’ve just agreed with the landlord of the Coach and Horses that we can hold café events there every Friday from now on, starting from this week, 22nd February. As before, we will start at 10.00am and carry on until nobody’s left – they have a great lunch menu, so do stick around for that too. So no more boo-hooing that you didn’t know it was on – it’s Friday morning. However in the spirit of eating our own dogfood, I will also put it on upcoming for those whose lives revolve around it. I’m now looking for sponsors who can support us in a non-evil way to make sure that we can make it cheaper for attendees while still ensuring that the venue covers it’s costs.
My instinct is to go for a number of smaller sponsors in the same vein as the BarCamp model rather than one company to carry it all. And by “non-evil” I mean sorry but you won’t get a humongous banner hung up in the room and you won’t get to treat us like cheapo market-research lab rats. However, if you’re naturally a part of the community, but also have some cash to spend on supporting it’s continued existence, then let me know. Also if you can think of specific people who might be interested in this opportunity, invite them along to the café as participants so they can get a feel of what we’re up to and give me a shout too.
It doesn’t solve the problem of what to do if you can’t get out of your place of work on a Friday morning (although if I was your manager, I’d think it comes under personal and professional development…) but more stuff outside of office hours is definitely on the roadmap.
UPDATE: Until things get even more complicated the sign-up page will always be here and I will strip it clean once a week.

Congratulations Lloyd, that’s great news! Look forward to coming to a whole bunch more.
YAY! x
Is there a registration page for attendance?
Kyle, sure – it’ll be on the wiki just as soon as I’ve rejigged it a bit.
I’ll ping you when it’s ready for you to leave your details
